May Happenings

May 10, 2018

Seth had his final band concert of the year. He was the only 6th grader that got into intermediate band and Mr. Nakoba often used Seth as an example of the right way to play. The kids who do percussions usually rotate and each get to play the snare drum for one song and play the glockenspiel for the other two songs at the concert. Seth got to play two!

There are new rules about taking kids on field trips, so I decided to nix the trip and host a big party instead. We held it in the MP Room and set up lots of games that went with the Superhero Theme. They played games, made masks, and had ice cream sundaes. The kids had a good time and we ended the party with the kids telling me their favorite books and getting a free book to take home.

Seth was on his Band trip when Mr. Brewer held his drum concert, so Seth had to play with the Music Center concert. Most of the other students played the piano or violin or something else a little quieter. Seth played "Hitchin' A Ride" by Green Day. He really rocked it.

Sadly, Mr. Brewer had to move to Florida, so Seth is taking lessons using Skype. He likes it. I like not driving to the lessons. Hopefully it works out.

Cam had her recital and was less prepared than she should be. She played "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera and "America the Beautiful."
