May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

May 16, 2014

Camryn loved The Hunger Games books and wanted to have a Hunger Games party for her 11th birthday. We planned the party to be on the night that Savanah would be in town from Colorado.

We brought a few girls home from school and we painted picture frames with the girls that were there on time.  They decoupaged on little tags from the books.

When the other girls got there after their dance rehearsal, we had dinner.

After dinner the girls had tribute training.  They shot the bow

(Kimber made funny faces, like she was afraid),

threw javelins,

jousted,

shot a sling shot, took a poisoned plant test, and played tracker jacker tag.

It was time for cake and ice cream,

then presents.  She was a little excited to get her phone.  I dialed the number when she went to open it.

The Girls

We projected Frozen on the wall out front and our neighbors all got to enjoy a rather loud singalong.

A few of the girls spent the night and had donuts and played a few of the tribute games again.

We were so glad to have our old friend, Savanah join us.  It was fun to see how much she had grown.

Field Day Fun

Friday, May 16, 2014

Field Day is the busiest day of the year.  I spent the morning supervising the three-legged-race with the 3rd-5th graders.  Cam paired up with Adrianna.

After all the events, there was a dance party.

During the break between Field Day sessions, I had my Shark Reef themed Accelerated Reader party. Both Seth and Camyrn had enough points for reading to attend.

A lady from the Shark Reef came and played a sea animal riddle game with the kids, taught them about food chains, and let them touch the dead sea creatures she had brought. She had a shark skin and jawbone, a blowfish, and a jellyfish.

We had punch, pizza, cake, and ice cream.  Each of the 30 kids who earned the party also got a little treat bag.

I had about 5 minutes to clean up and then I headed back out to the K-2nd grade Field Day.  I spent the afternoon at the soccer station.

It was a busy, hot, fun day.

Take Your Child to Work Day

Thursday, April 24, 2014

For Take Your Child to Work Day, Camryn hung out in the library with me all day.  She ran errands and worked on the inventory a little bit.

Seth went with Dave to Del Webb.  One of the science teaches had extra frog for dissecting, so Seth  had a very interesting science lesson.

Passing Time With the Peerys

April 2014

The Peery's are about to embark on a new adventure and with Sven graduating, they will soon be moving away.  We have been trying to spend as much time together as possible. We had a lunch between sessions of conference, with food items from places the apostles are from. They came over to watch the second session and played a bit.

We took the boys to Mountain's Edge park and hiked the big hill and hang out a while.  We thought it was funny that they came in flip flops.

And we ended our Spring Break at the cabin together.  We got there late Friday night, stopping at my parent's Paragonah house for pizza on the way there.

The next morning we all jumped in the truck and went up to the pond to fish.

The Peery kids will have a very warped sense of fishing.  We probably caught about 20 fish that day.  Sven breaded and fried a few of them up for us.  It was delicious, but we let most of them go.

Dave showed the boys how to clean fish.

After lunch, the boys wanted to see the creepy dollhouse.  Dave and I disagreed on how long this would take.  A bet was made.

The boys and I practically ran there and back. I won!

We had brought plastic eggs and candy for an egg hunt.  Avery was a little angry that she did not get the egg that she wanted.

The kids all found plenty of eggs and we finished up just as it started to rain.

We spent the rainy time having a talent show.  Seth put a lot of effort into his make-shift drums,

Mason showed off his amazing pole hugging skills, Cam sang,

and Avery did some sort of dance/comedy routine.

I thought the Peery's should see the lake, so we went fishing again.

Everyone caught a fish, even April, except Seth.

The moms and most of the kids headed back to the cabin, but Seth stuck it out until he caught one.

That night, we dyed eggs and watch Thor, before heading home the next morning.  It was great to finally share the cabin with the Peerys after talking it up for years.

Stay Off the Roads!

After a few tries, Alexis got her Learner's Permit!

Spring Break with the Sokols

April 11-15, 2014

The Sokol family came to visit during our Spring Break. We used the parking tags from Jeff's parent's time share to go swimming in a fancy pool near our house.

We dyed and painted Easter Eggs.

And the grown ups went to Bachi Burger together.

Then on Tuesday night, we had a Easter Egg Hunt and BBQ.  The teens hid the eggs for a little ones.  There were so many eggs.

The cousins had a good time together and then . . .

Aunt Jo brought out the confetti eggs.  I found confetti all over my house for weeks.

We had BBQ hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner and enjoyed a good visit with everyone.

Dave was having a busy week and ended up spending part of the night bishopbricing.

The next morning the Sokols took off.  It was fun few days with the cousins.
