Curiouser and Curiouser

Saturday, August 4, 2012

Camryn had her fall performance for Hollywood Kids.  They put on Alice in Wonderland, Jr.

Camryn was The Rose.  The flowers were a group of Mean Girls, who gave Alice a hard time when she came to the garden.  Camyrn hammed it up.

I am so proud of Camryn for making this audition only class this year.  She loves acting and is looking forward to trying out for The Little Mermaid this fall.

Adventuredome

Thursday, August 16, 2012

We had 2-for-1 tickets to the Circus Circus Adventuredome.  We got an all day pass, but we only lasted about 3 hours.  We rode the big roller coaster several times, but we could not get Seth to go on it.  The Frog Hopper was more his style.

Seth was tall enough to ride everything, but maybe not brave enough.

The whole family went on a little Ferris wheel together.

I must be getting too old for this, because the spinning rides made me feel a little sick.  After we left the Dome, we went to Macayos for a late lunch.  I'm not sure that the rides and Mexican food was a good combination!

Fun & Games

Friday, July 27, 2012

After our long day at Lagoon we wanted to take things a little easy.  We stopped by  Jac's park day for a little while, then went to lunch at MoBetta, a Hawaiian place.  The sauce was amazing.  Then we went to Fat Cats for $1 bowling and Mini Golf.

Seth and I actually beat Dave in Bowling, which is crazy because he lettered in bowling in high school.  It would be like me beating Alexis in soccer.  He claims that he lost because he did not have his ball and shoes. Likely story!

We also played a round of Pirate themed Glow in the Dark MiniGolf.

We didn't keep score, but I don't think we did very well.

After going to a little Mexican restaurant for dinner with the Sokols, we headed to the Real Salt Lake game. We thought the kids would enjoy the crazy fans, but Camryn was so mad that we didn't take Anna that she pouted through most of the game.  Camryn always has a hard time leaving Anna when we visit each other, and we knew that she would probably be asleep when we got back from the game and we had to leave early the next day.

We had to pick up the triplets at 7:00 am on Saturday.  They chattered all morning about what a great time they had at EFY.  We stopped to eat in Panguitch and had one of the most disgusting meals ever.  We headed up to the cabin to pick up Grandma and clean a bit before going home.

It was great to get home.  2 weeks is a little long for me to be away.

Lagoon

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Thursday was our day to spend at Lagoon, which my kids love more than Disneyland.  We got there early,

hit Anna's favorite ride The Bat,

then spent the rest of the morning at Lagoon Beach (the water section of the park).

After the water park, we watched a musical show the started on the rides.  Jeff met up with us after he got off work.

Seth's favorite was this Coaster.  He was tall enough and brave enough to go on all but 3 of the rides, including a few roller coasters.

Camryn loves scary rides and even went on the Rocket, which is a huge drop with Uncle Jeff.

We were able to go on most of the rides.  It was a very hot day, but we kept going.

Whenever we had to wait Camryn would just plop down on the ground to save her strength for the rides.  We went to another show at night, that featured pop music, and kept on riding until the park was about ready to close.  It was a fun day, but so very hot!

More SLC

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

On Wednseday, we drove out to the Copper Mine to look around and watch a video on how they process the metals.  They have displays in the visitors center and outside you can look down at where they have dug.  This giant tire cost $25,000.

The kids talked Dave into lunch at McDonald's.  I dropped them off and did a little shopping while they ate and played.  We took the kids back home and Dave and I went to the Draper Temple.  It was a fairly small temple, but the Celestial room was beautiful with an extremely high ceiling.  It is always fun to go to a temple you have never been to.

That night we had dinner and played croquet with the Sokols.

An "Official" Pioneer Day

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

We were excited to spend Pioneer Day in Salt Lake and see the way it is celebrated there.  Dave and Jeff got up really early and drove down to Jeff's office to save us a spot to watch the parade.  Jac and I brought the kids when it was about to start.

The parade was just like the one we have here every year, but WAY better.  The floats were amazing.

That night we went to the Sokol Family BBQ.  There was tons of food and it was fun to get to know Jeff's family. Most of the little towns up there had fireworks restrictions, so after dinner we went to Jac & Jeff's house, where they were legal.  It was fun to see how they celebrate in Utah.

Liberty Park

Monday, July 23, 2012

After Dave and I dropped the triplets off at EFY, we went to the art museum and saw an interesting exhibit on Islamic art and to The Creamery for a treat.  We headed to Sandy and as soon as we got there needed to leave to meet up with Jeff at the Tracy Aviary and Liberty Park.

At the Aviary we just walked around and looked at all the different birds.

Juju looks as freaked out by the birds as I am.

They had an exhibit of birds from Argentina.

The Aviary is attached to Liberty Park.  It is way better than any park here in Vegas.  They had a pond, where we fed ducks and they have a little "river" with surrounding rocks, hills, and structures that depict the Salt Lake Valley.  The kids loved the river area and wanted to stay there and instead of spending time at the play ground or splash pad.

Before we left, we rode the fair rides there.  The Ferris Wheel was the one from the movie Charly.

After the park we went to see the new City Creek mall.  We ate dinner and walked around.  The mall was amazing with a lot of water features and a roof that can open and close.

EFY- Arise and Shine Forth

July 23-July 28, 2012

EFY was a great experience. I met a lot of new people. Our company became better friends throughout the week.  Sydney and Chase were right across the hall, but in a different company.  My roommate's name was Madison.  One of the downsides of the week was that the food was disgusting, but they did have a really good ice cream shop called The Creamery. The lessons that were taught were really good and the speakers were really funny. There were dances (where I danced with a cute boy with an Australian accent) and activities and I made good friends like Sadie and Sarah.

Cove Fort

Sunday, July 22, 2012

Sunday we had a big breakfast at the cabin and went to church together.  In sacrament people told crazy stories about their 12 year old ancestors being married off to old men, but the Lake is still true. After lunch, we headed off to Cove Fort to visit Grandma and Grandpa Jenkins.  Grandma gave us a tour and Grandpa jumped in part way through.

We went through all the rooms and Camryn did an especially good job of answering questions Grandma asked.

We went through some of the out-buildings and Alexis licked the salt lick in the barn. Gross!

We cut our tour short, so Jacquelynn and her family could head home.  They took Seth and Camryn with them so we wouldn't be so crowded in Grandma and Grandpa's little apartment.

Dave, Lex, Sydney, Chase, and I had a nice dinner and spent time visiting.  Then Grandpa showed us his favorite church video, How Rare a Possession about the Book of Mormon.  We stayed the night and took off the next morning to take the triplets to EFY at BYU.

No Showers for a Week

July 17-21, 2012

This year was Stake Camp at Kolob. It was super fun. The first day we unpacked and set up our tents. We had an opening flag ceremony, dinner, and a night hike.

Wednesday we went on a hike that felt like it went on forever.  We also repelled and did archery.

Thursday was one of the funnest days. We did a zip line and crafts, then we went canoeing. After dinner we had skit night. I loved watching all the skits.

Friday was testimony meeting. It was spiritual.

I spent camp hanging out with Heidi, Taylor, Sydney, Chase, and Courtney.  We smelled but had so much fun.
