Home Means Nevada

I was so excited to have my 1st 3 day weekend since I started teaching again (Labor Day did not count - cleaning the cabin was just more work). The twins spent the night on Thursday. On Friday we got up and headed out to Boulder City to watch Madison compete in her cross country regional meet.

The terrain was rough and it was a tough race for Madison, but she did better hurt than I could do on my best day. We stayed around to watch a young man in our ward race too.

After the meet we drove to the dam. We missed the exit to walk across the bridge and so we drove across first, then went back to walk it.

About 2 seconds after I took this next picture, Dave felt the wind sway the bridge, he announced he was getting off, and he took off as quick as he could.

The bridge is huge and looks pretty cool. I'm glad we finally went to check it out.

No trip to Boulder City would be complete without a root beer float from A&W.

We stopped for the floats and lunch.

It's nice to just spend the day together, no matter what we do.

What Would Jerry Do? He Would Play, Man, He Would Play!

Saturday, October 22, 2011

The girls have been taking piano from Sister Jex. It was recital time, and the girls played in her chapel. They said the piano in there was harder to play, but I thought it was cool to see them play a grand piano. They both played 4 songs and did a great job.

A Crack-a-lackin Party at the McCracken's

Saturday, October 15, 2011

The McCrackens, a family in our ward, had a Halloween party. We had a potluck dinner, games, and lots of grownups talking.

Alexis helped with face painting.

The kids painted a pumpkin and decorated cookies.

It was a fun night but we were so tired from partying 2 nights in a row!

Be Cool About Fire Safety

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Seth went on his first field trip. His class walked to the nearby fire station. I was on my prep and the art teacher (Seth's school BFF Cayson's mom) and I drove over to join them.

The firemen talked about not playing with matches and dressed up in their gear, so show the kids what they would look like if they came to save them.

The kids got to walk through the fire engine in the "barn" or garage!

Then they went inside the station and watched a fire safety video. After the video, the kids thanked the firemen and headed over to the attached park to play on the playground.

Seth & Cayson - The sun was a little bright!

The kids played for a while and I headed back to the school. I loved that I got a chance to go. I love working at my kids' school.

Haven Ward's Got Talent?

Friday, September 9, 2011

Ryan and Chris' ward had a talent/variety show. Alexis and the twins danced to Footloose.

Labor Day Vacation - Mostly Labor, not a lot of vacation!

Saturday, September 3 - Monday, September 5, 2011

We spent Labor Day Weekend at the cabin. There was a lot of work to be done after the water damage this winter. We had lost all the mattresses, so we took up two trailer-fulls. We spent all day Saturday scrubbing things down and putting beds together. We only had one ratchet, so Dave and Ryan "took turns" working.

Grandma and Grandpa met us up there with Jacquelyn and Anna. After all that hard work, we had hot chocolate and Tam-Tams, before they left.

On Sunday we went to church. Dave did not bring church clothes and went to church looking like this. I'm not sure he is Elder's Quorum President material.

That night we had a family talent show. We had some gymnastics.....

performances of original songs.....

and Camryn sang "Rolling in the Deep" (with her eyes closed).

Awards were given to all, but Camryn won the Over All Best Performance.

We worked a little more on Monday then headed home. We got a lot done and had some fun too!
