A Whole New World

Friday, February 28, 2014

Camryn had her second night of Hollywood Kids performances of Aladdin.  She was one of the narrators and was also in the chorus for a few of the musical numbers.

Camryn is one of the older girls in her class and her narrator costume made her look even older.

The shows always turn out so cute and I have made it a tradition to make a cake to the cast party after the final show.

Biker Dudes

Saturday, February 22, 2014

Seth wanted to go ride around the desert part of Sunset Park with Mason.  I loaded their bikes in the truck and we headed down there.  I walked behind the boys, listening to my book, while they rode, getting frustrated with me because I was so slow.

Then we went over to a new section of the park where everything looked like it was made of wood.

We left the park and decided to wash Dave's truck for him, trying to get off all the mud from the cabin.  It was warm and fun for the boys to get wet. We always love hanging out with Mason.  The boys get along so well and have a good time.

A LONG Weekend

February 13-17, 2014

The men in our family spent the holiday weekend ice fishing at the cabin  - their annual Man Trip.  Zack was finally old enough to go and actually won the holey ladle - the prize for catching the first, biggest, or most fish.

The group that goes has grown over the years to include new in-laws and friends.  I don't know exactly what goes on at the cabin during the man trip, lots of movies and card games I'm guessing, and I don't really want to know.

Back home we kept ourselves entertained.  Friday was Valentine's Day and Camryn and Seth had some friends over for a little party.  They had French Bread Pizza for dinner.

and decorated Valentine's cupcakes.

Then the boys watched a movie upstairs and the girls watched parts of some movies downstairs (but mostly just talked and got rowdy).  It was a loud and crazy night.

Alexis and the twins had a tournament that weekend.  Alexis was actually told by the ref to get off the field until she stopped bleeding.  The turf just ate the skin off her knees.  The team did not do well, as usual.  After Saturday's game we stopped by the store to get smores supplies and Lex and Chase went to Lawson's birthday party- still stinky, bloody, and uniformed.

Camryn had a President Project due the next week, so we worked on this Teddy Roosevelt doll made out of a 2 liter bottle. It turned out really cute,

The girls got new clothes for Valentine's Day and wanted a pic before church.  We had a girls (and Seth) dinner over at my mom's that afternoon.

That night Chris and I took the kids to have midnight breakfast at Green Valley Ranch.  The food was pretty good and really cheap, but we spent a ridiculous amount on chocolate milk!

I ended my long weekend with getting a group of ladies together to go see A Winter's Tale.  I had read the book and loved it, although it was very literary and strange.  The movie was just OK and even more strange, without the ability to explain it strangeness like a book can. I was sad that some of my favorite story lines from the book had been cut, but that tends to happen.  We lunched at the Olive Garden and I enjoyed chatting with my family and friends.

PInewood Derby Disaster

Saturday, January 25, 2014

This year was our first Pinewood Derby and it was a a learning experience.  Seth wanted to name his car The Jet (like Benny the Jet Rodriguez in The Sandlot), so we decorated it by decoupaging on Air Force logos.  It looked pretty cool, but it was one of the last cars in every heat.  We got some tips on how to improve for next year. Maybe by his last year we will know what we are doing.

MLK Weekend

January 17-20, 2014

The triplets talked their dads into taking their friends for a weekend up at the cabin. It was Dave and Ryan for a whole weekend with Lex, Syd, Chase, Grace, Jamie, Summer, Jade, Madison, Janessa, and Hannah. Friday night they drove up to Paragonah and stayed at my parents' house, then headed up to the cabin the next morning.  There wasn't much snow, but they tried to use the snow mobile and they hung out in the cabin watching movies. They all had a good time, well, the girls did anyway.

Back home, the kids had a sleepover with Zack Friday night and I took Cam to see a show her Hollywood Kids teachers put on Saturday afternoon.  Saturday night Chris got some tickets, last minute from a friend, to see Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. They were very expensive tickets and the show was very intimate due to the venue.  It was in the old Phantom of the Opera theater in the Venetian.  I had a great time and knew all but a few of the songs.  It was a great show and was so glad Chris shared her extra ticket with me.
