The Wolf Den

Saturday, March 10, 2018

I was made the Wolf Den mother and have been working with the boys for a few months now. I usually enjoy it but once in a while I've probably had my fill of kids for the day. Some of the requirements needed to be passed off with a hike. All the dens in our troop went to the Wetlands to hike. We started in the Visitor's Center and one of the guides showed us a video about how the wetlands was formed.

We hiked to this bridge and saw some rabbits and other wildlife on the way.

A few of the boys' dads came along. The boys all had a good time and are getting lots of requirements passed off.

NRW

February 26-March 2, 2018

This year's theme for our school was Superheros, so I continued with that for Nevada Reading Week.

Monday was Captain America Day. The kids wore red, white, and blue and played a game where they had to guess which teacher was behind the book in front of their face.

Tuesday was The Flash Day. The kids wore sports and workout clothes and did author activities. We had an author come visit the 3-5th graders and share about his books and his writing process.

Wednesday was Wonder Woman Day. The kids were to dress up as their favorite book characters. I was the Very Hungry Caterpillar. We also played Book Bingo at the end of the day.

Thursday was Superman Day and the students were supposed to be super readers and read all the wordy shirts. I gave a prize to the student in each class that had the most words on their shirt. I wore my Jane Eyre shirt with all the characters names on it. The kids did a Poetry activity that day.

Friday was Batman Day and we wore PJs because Batman comes out at night. The students were supposed to buddy read with other grade levels that day.

Throughout the week, guest readers came and visited classes. The firemen were the favorites.

We also tracked the number of words the students read through AR. The goal was for the students to read a total of 4,000,000 words and they met their goal. They got to choose 2 teachers to throw pie in their face. They chose Ms. O'Brien and Mr. Wobeck who were good sports about it.

Reading Week is always exhausting but the kids have a good time.

Man Trip

February 15-19, 2018

Seth was finally old enough to go on the Man Trip. He was excited to spend the weekend watching movies, playing games, and freezing while ice fishing. He had so much fun and can't wait to go next year.

This year's winner was Austin Mohler, a friend who came with Zach.

LOVE

Thursday, February 15, 2018

The boys left for the man trip and I took Cam for a special surprise. We had dinner at Cafe Rio (her favorite) and went to see LOVE at the Bellagio. She loved the music and the performances.

Magic Mountain

February 9-10, 2018

Cam went on a STUCCO retreat to California. On Friday, they went to a college campus to take a tour then spent the rest of the day bonding and planning activities for the rest of the year. On Saturday, the group spent the day at Magic Mountain, then headed back home.
