Visiting the Rat

March 8, 2010

To wrap up Spring Break we took the cousins to Chuck E. Cheese. We went first thing in the morning so the kids could get all the tickets that come out when they reset the games.

The kids had fun and ended up with over 2000 tickets. They each got a ton of prizes. Me, I read a book the whole time. The only way to survive that place, is to tune it out.

Curiouser and Curiouser

March 5, 2010

Camryn was in an Alice in Wonderland scene in her Hollywood Kids show, so she was super excited to see the movie. She talked Dave into taking the whole family. We had the kids pay for half their ticket with their chore money. We went to a 2D showing-3D sometimes gives me a headache. I had pretty low expectations, I'm not a fan of the cartoon version. We actually really liked it. Seth was so entranced he could barely move, let alone eat his popcorn and licorice. After seeing the movie, I bought Camryn the Avril Livigne song "Alice". She listens to it over and over and over and . . . . .

We're Here to Pump You Up

We had discounted tickets to Pump It Up and thought it would be a great Track Break activity. Most of our ward is Track 4 also, so I emailed everyone to join us. We had a really big group - good thing, because they were having a birthday party and would have kicked us out if there hadn't been enough of us. Instead they just moved us to a different room, which was actually better. The kids had a great time and I enjoyed sitting around talking with the moms.

Cowboy Up

Last Tuesday we took some friends and met up with some others at Western Trails Park. The whole park is cowboy themed - even the bathrooms (on the outside, inside is still gross park potty). The kids ate their lunches under these covered wagons.

Seth found this Thomas the train pail that had a puzzle in it. He was excited to use it as his lunch box.

Chris took a picture of a few of the kids who came. I love having good friends in our ward and our cousins to spend track break with.

Nerves of Steel

On Friday, February, 19th, all the kids had the day off for Staff Development Day and we kicked off Camryn's Track Break. We spent the morning at Duck Creek Park, we're trying to get our ward's Park Day going again. Then we spent the afternoon at the movies. The 6th graders wanted to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Most of them had read the books (I read it a few years ago - long enough ago that I wouldn't be so critical of the movie). A few of us moms decided to bring our littler kids with us, because it looked a little Harry Pottery. The older kids all sat in the back, too cool for us, and the moms sat with the littler ones. Well, it got a little scary - furies and a very demon-like Hades. One of the other kids had to move right next to his mom and have her cover his eyes when it got scary. Camryn and Seth? DID NOT EVEN FLINCH. My kids must seriously must have nerves of steel.

Who Said Romance is Dead?

Dave spent Valentine's Day Weekend on the Annual Man Trip (yeah, I know it's taken me a while to blog this), so I thought I would share how I spent the most romantic weekend of the year.

On Friday night, all the Las Vegas ladies in the family went to a movie and dinner. We saw Valentine's Day. I thought it was actually pretty cute and the Julia Roberts "blooper" during the credits was hilarious. After the movie we went to Red Lobster - I love crab legs and their cheesy garlic biscuits. When we got home, Alexis had the twins and Shae spend the night. We had smoothies and heart attacked and TPed boys in the ward. Am I a bad mom for waking my 4 year old up at 10:30 at night to take the girls TPing?

Saturday night I babysat so two other couples could go and enjoy their Valentine's Day. It meant riding bikes in the cul-de-sac, a lot of chicken nuggets and fries for dinner, and a viewing of G-Force.

On Sunday morning I had candies and little gifts for the kids. Seth got bullets for his Nerf guns, Camryn got this big paper doll house that you color, and Alexis got the movie The Prince & Me. That night we had dinner at Grandma Jenkins' house. We managed to have a busy weekend without Dave.
