Trunk -or-Treat

Saturday, October 30, 2010
Our ward held their annual trunk-or-treat on Saturday. All the family in Vegas came for at least a while before heading to their own ward parties.
Alexis' Sunday School class were all characters from Alice in Wonderland. Taz was missing in this picture, but he wore his Mad Hatter costume to school - the costume and the make up job was awesome. It was cool that all the kids followed through.

Here is Camryn with our neighbor Savanah. Savanah is actually wearing a cape that went with the witch costume our family had when I was little. I had found it in the garage and lent it to her.
This is Seth and his best buddy Mason. They were having a good time with Mason's light saber. It made cool noises.

The kids had fun and got plenty of candy. I think I have gained a few pounds this week. Here are the pumpkins I carved this year.

The Costumes

Saturday, October 31, 2010

Alexis was too cool for us this year and didn't want to participate in the family costume theme. Her Sunday School class planned to all do characters from the new Alice in Wonderland. Alexis decided to be the White Queen. This was perfect because we had this white dress that was originally my sister's temple dress, and two years ago was the dress we used for Alexis' Princess Leah costume. We added the puffiest sleeves I could make and put a sheer material over it that we had decorated a swirly pattern on with glitter glue.

Camryn and Seth decided to be Mario and Luigi from the Mario Brothers video games. I bought the hats and added the patches to them and bought the t shirts. The overall I made because nothing out there looked right. The problem with that was there was no patterns for overalls that I could find, so I had to wing it. I loved the giant yellow buttons I found. The kids hated the mustaches, so I put some on with eyeliner under it. Good thing, Seth ripped his off pretty quick.

The cousins and Bo were characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender. I haven't seen the movie or cartoon, but the costumes were still cool. I loved Zack's commitment in shaving his head for his costume.

On the Night Before Halloween

Friday, October 29, 2010

On Friday we needed to get things ready for Halloween. The twins were over and they helped us pick the design we wanted on our pumpkins, and even better helped clean them out. They did a great job. Then I did the carving - they had picked some crazy designs, so it took all afternoon.

Later that night, I took the kids to a Haunted House Alexis' choir teacher had told her about. Camryn even wanted to come. I was leery, but let her decide. When we got there they were still setting up, so while we waited in line, guys in creepy masks (working the haunted house) came up to us and put their faces in ours and just messed with us.

The grim reaper gave them rules and warnings before going in.

They had a good time and talked about how there were mirrors everywhere that made it hard to find your way out. I think it was just the right amount of scary for them.

Play Ball!

Fall 2010

This year Seth is playing coach-pitched baseball. The kids get about 4 tries to hit the ball then have to use the tee. Seth has done pretty well with hitting and has only used the tee twice. His team is called The Tigers.
