Field Day

Friday, May 4, 2012

Fong divided their Field Day into 3 separate events.  We started with an afternoon of 1st-3rd grades playing their games.  Ms. Mez's Class tie-dyed shirts.  Here they are taking a popsicle break.

I love not missing out on fun days like these with my kids.

Cam has made great friends this year - Hannah, Jasmine, Karen, Camryn, & Lizbeth.

I ran the Egg Relay.  Kids put a wooden egg on a wooden spoon and had to carrying it around some cones.

Of course, the kids favorite is - anything that involves getting wet.

Seth's Field Day was the next Friday morning.

Seth with his buddy, Cayson.

It was so hot that day.  As happy I was to be out with the kids in the morning - it was killer to teach all afternoon.

Seth loved the water game too.

The final Field Day event was the teacher/5th grader kickball game.  Due to my foot still not being completely healed, I went for the bunt and got all the way to 3rd base before the game ended!

Garden Party

Friday, May 4, 2012

We had an Activity Day Mother/Daughter Garden Party.  We had Chicken Salad Sandwiches and Fruit for dinner.  We played a Newlywed-like Game, to see how well we knew each other.  Cam & I's answers matched most of the time.  We also made two little flower crafts.  It was a fun night and great to spend time with Camryn.

Getting Older

Friday, April 27, 2012

Dave's birthday landed on a Friday, so I arranged for his mom to take the kids overnight.  He didn't know and didn't see the kids put their things in the car and was surprised when the got out at Grandma's with overnight bags.  You have to be a parent to know the sweetness of having a night off.

I took Dave to dinner at Table 34, which had been recommended by friends.

The food was so good. I will never be satisfied by another crab cake again!  They have a wild game menu and Dave ordered Elk, but I played it safe and got ribs that were so tender the meat just fell off the bones.

Then we went to Madame Tussad's Wax Museum.  I read a Historical Novel about her and have been wanting to check it out.

Some of the figures looked real and some just looked creepy.

If you look them right in the eyes, it feels like they are going to reach out and grab you!

I wished that they had a little video about how they make the figures. That would have made the whole experience more interesting.

Then we got Route 44 cherry/cranberry limeades and headed home to watch The Help.  The next morning we slept in!!!!

Competitive Egg Hunting

Saturday, April 7, 2012

We always hunt Easter Eggs with the cousins, but this year they were in California and we were on our own.  It seemed a little boring so we decided to try turning it into a competition.  We divided the eggs.
Alexis went first, so Camryn and Seth hid her eggs and we timed her to see how long it took for her to find them.

Each kid took a turn.  It got harder as it went. And darker. And longer.

We finally found al the eggs and ended the hunt with confetti eggs!

The confetti ended up all over the place.

Luckily everyone's competitiveness petered out pretty quick or a brawl could have broken out!

Egg Beautification

Saturday, April 7, 2012

We were tired from our San Diego trip, but we got up the next morning and prepared Easter eggs for the hunt.

Alexis painted hers - dying was not creative enough for her.

The kids made a pretty big mess but had fun.

Seth has an egg he is very proud of.

We were watching Tyler and Audrey Shafer and they helped make make the mess, I mean, make beautiful eggs!
