Choiry Christmas

Tuesday, November 15, 2016

The Schofield Madrigals performed at the Annual Ethel M's Cactus Lighting. The news often uses their performances as the backdrop for their weather reports.

The Section Leaders for Schofield's Madrigals, including Camryn, were invited to perform at the Smith Center for the Holiday Extravaganza. The choir was made up of mostly high school students, so it was a pretty big honor to be invited.

We went to our last Schofield Winter Choir Concert. Ms. Fleischer needs to get some new material.

Decorating Day

Sunday, December 11, 2016

With Lex away at school and Dave in Texas for Uncle Bill's funeral, decorating the tree was a quiet affair this year.  We had picked a pretty tall tree, but had hoped it would open up more when we got home. It didn't, so we had a tall but skinny tree this year. We spent part of the afternoon putting up all our old ornaments,

Seth put the ornaments Grandma Hill gives the kids each year together to make teams.

Cam got to put up the star this year. When the tree was all decorated, we headed to Uncle Lee's to decorate gingerbread houses.

Grandma Jenkins bought a kit for each family to make a house. We hot glued the houses together and then the kids got to work.

The little cousins were cute to watch.

Seth did most of the work on ours while Cam texted her friends.

I had frozen the leftover turkey from Thanksgiving, so we defrosted that and made Ghetto Bobbies - turkey sandwiches with stuffing and cranberry sauce. After dinner we tried to watch the Christmas Devotional. Even with most of the kids watching it upstairs, it was hard to focus with so many of us there.

We ended the night with a dessert and a game. We had to guess the name of the Christmas Song based on a picture clue. We lost but deserved a tie because one of the "songs" was really a poem, so we didn't write it down.

That night Lex and her roommates celebrated their Christmas together, before they all started heading off for the holidays. Lex got pajamas, socks, and clothes. Tristan is an honorary roommate, so he was part of the gift exchange too - just not in matching leggings.
