USUE vs CSN

Thursday, September 8, 2016

We were excited to see Lex play, and they actually had a game here in Vegas. What made it even better is that The USUE Eagles were playing CSN, where a few of Lex's previous teammates play.  It feels good to win, but even better to beat people you know.

Lex played defense and did very well. She was even credited with an assist. She played all but 10 minutes.

They won 3-1! We celebrated by taking Lex, Callie, and Kennedy to BJ's for dinner.

Friday, September 9, 2016

The Eagles had a second game in Vegas. They played Grand Canyon University and won that game too. Jo came to the Thursday game, but when more family (Ryan, Chris, Lee, Abby, Wally, and Sarah) came she didn't play much. It wasn't a conference game and her ankle was bothering her.  Sarah looked so cute in her USUE onsie.

Taz came to cheer her on at both games.

We stayed to watch the boys play on Friday. I was sitting on a hill next to Lex and her friends and I leaned over to see a shot on goal, and my whole chair tipped over.  Lex had a good laugh.

Lex and her firends came over for pizza and we got to meet so many of the people she talks about.  They took the van and hung out on The Strip.

Paul, Rachel, Tristen, Kennedy, Travis, Callie, and Lex

We met up with Lex at their hotel to get the van back and got to meet her Italian friend, Fabio, who was so funny.  It was good to have Lex here for a few days and we loved to see her play.

Labor Day Weekend

Saturday, September 3, 2016

The Sawyers invited Cam to go with them to St. George to see a play at Tuachaun. The drove up and had dinner at Iceberg's before the show.  They have the best shakes.

They went to see The Hunchback of Notre Dame.  Cam said it was very good, but a little more adult than the Disney version.

Lex went to SLC with sine of her soccer teammates. They spent some time at Temple Square and took cute pictures.

The kids talked us into going to The Green Valley Ranch for midnight breakfast. Zach tagged along, but no one else was up for it.

We worked on more house projects, then sent a few hours at Game Works, playing video games.

It's totally not my thing, but it was fun to watch everyone else play.

Cam got the High score on this piano game. I guess years of lessons have paid off!

It was a little strange to be home for Labor Day weekend, but we needed a break after all the summer travel. We still had fun and we got a little more work done on our house projects.

1st Day of School

Monday, August 29, 2016

We all started school on the same day. Dave is teaching computer humanities at Gragson ES, for his 2nd year.

I am at Hummel ES for for my 3rd year as the school librarian.

Lex is a feshman at USUE, playing soccer and working on her social work degree.

Cam is an 8th grader at Schofield MS, where she is in Madrigals and is the Soprano Section Leader.

Seth is a 5th grader at Hummel ES.

Seth's homeroom teacher is Ms. Bryan, but he also rotates to Mrs. Hudson and Dr. Groom's classes.  He attends a GATE class three times a week.

Adios, Brad!

Monday, August 22, 2016

Lex wasn't able to make it home for Brad's farewell because she had soccer, but the next weekend she hitched a ride home with Rachel. She spent some time with us and more time with Brad. The best was when Brad came in the house to tell Dave and I goodbye. I hugged him, but Dave went in for a handshake, Brad went in for a hug.  It was hilarious. Lex and Brad and a last breakfast Monday morning, before he got set apart and she headed back to school. This is their goodbye. I'm sure Brad will bless the people of Argentina on his mission.

Sound of Music

Thursday, August 11, 2016

We tried to surprise the kids with tickets to the Sound of Music at The Smith Center, but they got it out of me.

We went to dinner at Komex, then listened to showtunes on the way to the show.

The girl playing Maria spoke with a weird sing-song voice, but the rest of the cast, especially the Head Nun were amazing,

Seussical the Musical

August 10 & 12, 2016

Cam's Hollywood Kids class put on Seussical the Musical. She was a Who.

She was so cute.

Cam loves her class and has made a lot of friends in her class.
