NRW

March 2-6, 2015

The theme for Nevada Reading Week was "Be a Superhero. . .Read".  We had a door decorating contest so I joined in with this Spiderman door and the Kinder hall was all deck out with a city-scape and the hero the kids made.

Monday was Mix and Match Day. We wore unmatching clothes and had a game where students had to match the teacher's name with a picture of them holding their favorite book in front of their face.

We had Tops and Toes Tuesday with our Crazy Hair and Crazy Socks.  The kids did an author walk that day, visiting different classrooms and learning about an author that class was studying.

Seth made a shirt for Wordy Wednesday with all the text from Green Eggs and Ham on it. We also played Book Bingo that afternoon.

Thursday was Dress like a Character or Superhero Day. I was Captain America and Seth was Tom Fitzgerald from the Great Brain series.

We also had Literacy Night that night. We had activities throughout the school like a book photo booth in the library, a book swap, and other reading games. At the end we had a drawing for book bags with books, games, and a bike.

Friday was Relax & Read Day, with everyone wearing PJs. Throughout the week we had guest readers including some of the Police Officers and Fireman in our ward.

I set a reading goal for our school. They had to make a reading chain that went all the way around the courtyard area. The kids made their goal and so they got to choose 2 teachers to get pied. They choose Mrs. Eagar and Mrs. Sanchez. It was pretty messy and funny. They were good sports about it.

Reading Week was a lot of work but it was pretty fun too.
