Varsity Soccer 2015

Fall 2015

We were a little nervous at the beginning of the season. A good number of girls had graduated the previous year, and the coach predicted that this would be a "rebuilding season". Lex helped organize a lot of the team bonding nights and felt really connected to all the girls this year.

In the middle of the season, Lex popped her ankle at practice and sprained it. She had to sit out 3 games and she was antsy to get back in the game. Luckily, they still finished the season undefeated, with Lex scoring 2 goals.

The team got to take a day off school to help at the Special Olympics. They had a good time with the kids.

The last home game is Senior Night. The whole family went to watch and we got to hold signs that the underclassmen made for our senior. The girls also got sashes and crowns to wear.

They got flowers and Nike gift cards from Coach Carter.

Playoffs

Silverado played Basic and beat them 2-0.

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

After the expected win against Basic, the girls wanted to have a Pasta Night at our house.

All but 3 girls came, They ate and got themselves pumped up for Wednesday's game. We even got out my old yearbook and looked up Coach Carter.

Wednesday was rainy, so the game against Foothill was rescheduled for Thursday. We had lost pretty badly against them in the preseason, so we assumed it would be our final game.  The girls played their best game ever and pulled off a 2-1 win.

Everyone was in shock and the girls were so happy, they started crying. They had gotten farther in the playoff than any other Silverado team had in about 10 years. Mel was crying so much, it was funny.

This picture was taken by the Review Journal and is my favorite. It shows the pure joy and relief the girls felt, winning that game.

The Team - Division Champs!

One fun part of this season, was that the triplets got to play together one last time.

Lex and Becze were not official team captains, but they worked out the team bonding nights and kept the moral up.

Saturday, November 7, 2015

For the Regional Finals, Silverado faced off against Coronado and lost 4-1, which was better than their preseason score. Some of the girls were pretty upset, but Lex was just happy they had gotten as far as they had.

I made a big cake for the end of the season banquet. There was a potluck dinner and then the coaches presented awards to the girls.

Lex was awarded her Scholar Athlete patch for her outstanding grades this year. The night ended with a video Becze had made and Lex taking lots of pictures with the awesome girls she has gotten to play with,
