Sun and Soccer

August 8-10, 2014

Alexis had her first tournament with LVPSA.  Lex and I drove down to San Diego Friday morning.  She slept most of the way.  We were some of the first ones there, so we ended up going window shopping at a mall and then to La Jolla Cove.  There were seals sunning themselves on a large rock.

Lex loves the beach.  The waves were a little rough and there were a lot of rocks around, but we found a good spot for Lex to wade out in.

She met another girl her age and they hung out  for a while.

I tried to remedy my farmer's tan and read my book.

Lex loves taking pics  Here are a few of her on the beach:

We went back to the hotel and Lex hung out with Victoria for a while before we headed to bed.  The next morning the girls had a 9:30 game.  They lost 2-0.  After lunch and I took Lex and Victoria to the beach.  There was nowhere to park so I dropped them off and parked in front of an abandoned house to read, while they spent an hour in the water.  I picked them up and got them to their second game, which ended in a tie.

Saturday night we had dinner as a team at Sammy's Woodfire Pizza, then Lex and Victoria went with her family to walk around the cove area.

Sunday morning, we won our game and that put us in the finals, which were held that afternoon.  The game was close and we held them at 0-0 until the end.  Unfortunately, one of our players headed the ball into our own goal on a penalty kick and they won 1-0.

LVPSA came in 2nd for the tournament and received a medal

Alexis had a fun weekend and got to know her new team better.
