Thanksgiving Week

Monday November 21, 2016

Lex came home to spend the week, bringing Tristan with her. She decided to introduce us to one of her old HS traditions - tunnel walking.

It was very dark and creepy with the lights out, but we used the flashlights on our phones most of the time.  It was a longer walk than I imagined and every so often Lex would jump and scream, causing me to jump and scream.  She was very afraid of bats. We ended up chasing a bat all the way out of the tunnel, then we sent Tristan out to make sure it was out of the area at the end too.  He danced around a bit until he finally scared it out and we could climb out to the desert. It was a little freaky but in a fun way.

With scouts and mutual cancelled, we thought it was the perfect night to go see Fantastical Beasts and Where to Find Them.  Cam had already seen it with friends, so we took Seth, Lex and Tristan. Lex isn't into to the same geeky stuff we ar,e but Tristan is! We ended the night with shakes at Steak and Shake.

Lex showed Tristan around Vegas, including taking a ride on the Linq.

We hosted Thanksgiving, as always. Tristan's brother, Bridger, was in town for a soccer tournament, so we ended up with 29 people here! I was afraid we wouldn't have enough turkey, so I roasted one in the oven and Dave fried one.

After dinner, we had a ping pong tournament. I am always out in the first round. My brothers were finally put in their place - Bridger won!

Lee wrestled all the boy cousins on the trampoline after the tournament.

Seth and Camryn wanted to check out Black Friday shopping, so we met up with Jo, Paul and some of Paul's family at Target around 8:00.  We didn't buy much, but we had an adventure.  There was a woman who cut in line and the Target employees asked her to leave. She started swearing up a storm, so Jolynn went to ask her to stop. Then when she got to the register to pay, they disabled the register and she started yelling about how the manager treated her unfairly. Paul stepped in to back up the manager. She kept yelling, "You don't know who I know!" It was a crazy introduction to Black Friday shopping for the kids.

Seth and I had been watching a lot of old Gilmore Girls episodes to gear up for the Netflix revival of the show.  Seth started to wear his hat like Luke!

At the scout auction, we won a Bounce House Party. We reserved the church pavilion and invited people to come. When we blew up the Bounce Houses, we saw that they were for toddlers.  The little cousins had a good time.

The bigger cousins turned the bounce houses into wrestling rings. Here is Lex and Zach going at it.

We also brought other things to do, like soccer, and ordered pizza. It was mostly family, but some of the Reeses came and the Averetts.

Later that day, we went to Jolynn's to watch the new Gilmore Girls. It seemed a little off but it was fun to watch in a group.

Lex had a Friendsgiving dinner with her high school friends at the Haycock's that night.

We took a quick picture to put on Christmas card before Lex headed back to school.
