California Dreamin'

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

We wanted to take the kids on a short trip before Lex headed off to college, so we decided on a few days in California.  Dave planned the whole thing, and decided that spending the 6th at a Dodgers game, would be he perfect way to spend my 40th birthday. You know, because I love baseball so much.

We ended up  in the bleacher seats, because they had a deal where you could have unlimited Dodger Dogs and nachos. They food wasn't great, but it was such a hot day that we loved the unlimited drinks.

The game was tied and went into extra innings, after about 10 innings, we decided we couldn't sit out in the sun any longer and decided to leave. Later we heard that the game went into the 13th inning.

We decided to go check out Mann's Chinese Theater and The Walk of Fame. I thought Camryn would like to see it. We saw footprints for the Star Wars cast,

Singing in the Rain's Debbie Reynolds,

and the Star Trek cast, to name a few.

We went to dinner at Roscoe's, so Dave could have legit chicken and waffles.

We spent Thursday at Knott's Berry Farm. We had stayed at the park's hotel and ate at their restaurant for breakfast. Seth got some sunblock in his eye and spent most of the meal weeping.  Cam, who Grandpa always called Snoopy, got a picture with him.

The park was a bit smaller then I imagined. We rode all the rollercoasters throughout the day. I love that everyone rides them now.

We took a break from the park. We went out to eat and spent a short while at the beach.

We went back to the park that eveningand rode some of our favorite rides a second time.  Dave and Camryn ended up in a very long line and Seth, Lex, and I wondered around the shops.

In one of the little shops, Seth and I learned a bit more about how telegrams and Morse Code works.

It was a good day, but Knott's Berry Farm is not our favorite park.

Lex loves the beach, so Friday we slept in a bit then spent a few hours there.

I read while the rest of the family went out into the waves, collected shells, and worked on their tans.  I definitely got a burnt back.  We headed back home after the beach.  It was slow going on a Friday. It was nice to spend a few days together.
