Homecoming 2014

Saturday, October 11, 2014

After all the shopping and preparation, the Homecoming date finally arrived.  The night before, Robbie had bruised his liver in the football game.  He spent most of the morning in the ER and we were just glad that he felt up to going and that he would be alright.  He and his parents came to our house for Robbie to pick her up and exchange the boutonniere and corsage. We needed Robbie's mom to do the pinning.

They headed off to the Gardens at St. Rose Hospital for pictures. They took pictures for about an hour and a half.

THE GROUP

LEX & ROBBIE

LEX

The Group took a party bus to the Venetian, where the couples rode the gondolas.  Lex said their gondolier was funny and a good singer.

After their ride, they had dinner at Buca de Beppo in the Excalibur.  Their next stop was the giant ferris wheel at the Linq.  Music played as they went around, so when a slow song came on Robbie asked Lex to dance. (He knew I was upset that there was no dance for Homecoming this year and that it was important to me that Lex had at least one dance.)

The last stop was the NY NY Roller Coaster.  The group had a great time and Lex was lucky to have a sweet boy take her on her first dance date (where there was no dance).

Road Trip

September 26-27, 2014

I somehow got talked into chaperoning a trip to St. George.  A big group of Lex's friends headed up to Shae's grandma's house.  I had Summer, Jade, Paige, Michael, Lex, and Robbie in my car. The talked, slept, and watched a bit of a scary movie on the way up.

We had dinner at the Pizza Factory. A few of the kids were being so loud the waitress came over and shushed us.

After dinner we went to Shae's Grandma's house and took some pics of the group.  It was dark and they didn't turn out great, but this one of Lex and Robbie was pretty good, although he was more concerned about getting good pics with Alan.

The kids changed into hiking clothes and got glow bracelets and went for a hike in a canyon, while the moms went and got a snack.

One the way back to the house, our car made a pit stop at Iceberg for giant milkshakes, Lex's favorite.

At the house, Amelia told a creepy story about this big doll she called "the guilt doll",

then the kids watched a creepy movie called The Boogeyman.

We sent the kids to bed after the movie, then Amelia and I stayed up talking until about 5:00 in the morning.  We got up and talked to the boys for a while (I lost a bet to Adam about Elvis) and then we made breakfast.  After everyone was up, fed, and dressed, we headed back to town.  The kids slept the whole way back.

Asked and Answered

Friday, September 12, 2014

Alexis walked out of seminary this bright Friday morning to the sounds of her favorite song, "Where We Came From" by Phillip Phillips, blasting from a car stereo and the sight of these posters.  The posters had lyrics from the song - "I'd climb the mountain and swim to shore" if you'd go to Homecoming with me (the ME was on his shirt).

Robbie also gave Lex a dozen roses.  It was very sweet of him to use this song.  She loves it and was excited for her first formal dance.

Friday, September 19, 2014

Lex decided to answer back with one of Robbie's favorite songs, "The Life of the Party". We made posters that used lyrics from the song.

Even though it's a pretty slow song, we took the party part and went with it. We bought party hats and blowers and made cupcakes.

That night Robbie had a rough game against Green Valley and got pretty banged up.  I'm sure it made his night to come home to a video of his song being projected onto his garage.  He had a huge smile on his face.

They have a huge group of friends to go with and big plans for their night out.

Something Old

Saturday, September 20, 2014

For this year's Beehive Conference, they had the older girls in the Stake model modest wedding dresses.  Lex modeled Debbie Delahousse's and Tara Jex's dresses.

The girls walked a runway while the host read a little write up about the dress and the bride who wore it.

After they modeled their dresses, Lex had a mini photo shoot with Ezree and Aubry.

Aubry was so funny. She posted some pics of herself on Instagram and made it seem like she had actually gotten married - an people believed her. Silly girl!

Daddy Daughter Date

Friday, September 19, 2014

Dave and Camryn attended The Annual Las Palmas Ward Daddy Daughter Date. They went to a rock climbing center where they climbed the wall, had Bro Witt hang them upside down (well, the girls, anyway), and ate donuts.  They had a good time together.

September 2014

We have had a busy fall, so far.  Here are just a few thongs we have been up to.

Friday Nights - We have gone to several football games to support Lex's friend, Robbie (and out CCSD ID's get us in free).  He plays offense and defense, so he is on the field most of the game.

Monday, September 1st - Seth got the most behavior points the first week of school and was awarded the Class Leader Award.

Friday, September 5 - Lex had a game on her adoption day.  The whole family went to watch her play and then celebrate with a dinner out. She usually chooses to go to Zabas, but they are moving to a new location, so she had to settle for Taco y Taco. I can't believe it's been 13 years since this beautiful girl officially became ours.

Saturday, September 6 - Our new little nephew joined our family just in time for the BYU game.  Matthew Charles Sokol, luckily didn't ruin Jeff's game day with a late arrival.  They automatically suited up this little QB1. Let the brainwashing begin!

Thursday, Setember 11th - Lex's friends have all been hitting that Sweet Sixteen one-by-one. Here are the girls on Shae's birthday.

Sunday, September 14th - We celebrated Jude's 1st and Madison's 19th birthdays with a really awkward and unpleasant family dinner. Luckily, everyone made up and we could start getting together on Sunday nights to watch Amazing Race when the new season began.

Mornings - Lex goes to seminary every morning, but apparently does not always get as much as I would hope out of it.
