Christmas Time With the Cousins

Saturday, December 22, 2012

Lee, Caden, and Mason came to town for a few days over the break.  When they got here, on Saturday we spent the evening eating at Sammy's - which always takes forever, then we headed over to Quiver Point to look at the lights.

We also saw them at Ryan's Pitch Slap Party the next day.  Ryan got us all together and the 14 & up crowd watched Pitch Perfect while the littles watched a kiddie movie upstairs.  I love that Ryan has the same taste in movies and TV shows as 14 year old girls.  But this time I have to admit that I loved this movie.  It has so many good one-liners.

Going Under the Knife

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Seth has had a weird bump inside his left eyelid since August. After several trips to the optometrist and a trip to an ophthalmologist, we had to set up a little procedure to have it cut out.

Seth was not allowed to eat that day and we were scheduled to go in about 1:00.  It was a long whiney day.  Once we got there we ended up waiting about 3 hours.  It was rough.

They finally took him back and after about 15 minutes, I got to see him.  The anesthesia made Seth very sick. He threw up anything he ate or drank until the middle of the night.  The next morning he was bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to go to school.  The procedure was a success and Seth's eye looks great,

Gingerbread Houses

Sunday, December 9, 2012

We went to Ryan and Chris' house to celebrate his birthday with a waffle dinner.  After dinner we made gingerbread houses.

My mom always makes the gingerbread ahead of time.  We divide into teams and get down to business.

Alexis was on a team with the triplets and I helped Camryn, Zack, and Seth decorate theirs.

Grandma Hein even decorated one with Mom - her first gingerbread house, ever! Bo brought Abigail to team up with and Jolynn and Paul made one too.

Camryn told me we won the contest for the best house, but I am not sure who judged and what the criteria for winning was, but she was excited!

Here We Come A Caroling

Thursday, December 6, 2012

Camryn performed in her honor choir Holiday show.  They sang various songs including songs to celebrate Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas. The choir did a great job and kept it short and sweet.  Camryn's favorite choir song is "In the Window".

Saturday, December 15, 2012

Camryn also had a Christmas performance for Hollywood Kids.  They performed at the City of Henderson's Winterfest.

The different classes and some individuals performed Christmas songs and also a few songs from the upcoming Little Mermaid show they are preparing for.

We celebrated a job well done with hot cocoa on the way home.  It was pretty cold out!

O, Christmas Tree

Sunday, December 9, 2012

On Friday Dave and Alexis went to Home Depot to pick out a tree.  They got the fatest tree with a chopped off top that I have ever seen.  We waiting for it to open a bit and decorated on Sunday afternoon.

It is always fun to go through the ornaments and remember who made them or how we received them.

We also spend a good deal of the decorating time arguing about whose turn it is to put the star on the tree.

We found photographic evidence proving that it was Seth's turn, but we did have the problem of the top f the tree being missing and not really having a place to put the star.  I got inventive and found a dowel to stick down the center and put the star on that.

Once the tree is up, we finally feel like it is really Christmas time.

Dear Santa

Saturday, December 8, 2012

Friday night Dave and I went to see The Life of Pi with the book club ladies and their husbands. We ended the night by having way too much of way too many kinds of pie (including pizza pie and my favorite lemon meringue) at the Goon's. The Allens had Cam and Seth over for a sleepover so we didn't even have to worry about babysitting. The next morning I picked up the kids and we headed straight to The Bass Pro Shop to see Santa. Dave met us there with Alexis and Zack. Grandma and Grandpa showed up too, but mostly to check out ATVs.

Alexis asked Santa for boots. Camryn asked for an iPod touch. Seth asked for a bigger bike. Zack asked for a lifetime supply of Calypso Lemonade.

After seeing Santa we spent the rest of the day at Alexis's 3v3 soccer tournament. They won their first game then spent the rest of the day being soundly beaten by Heat '99 teams.
