Cousin Time

Friday, June 17 - Monday, June 20, 2016

Lee always goes on a couples only vacation with Melissa for their anniversary each year.  We usually help watch their kids, and we had them stay for a few days. On Saturday, our family went to Avery Driscoll's funeral services. Avery was one of Camyrn's close friends when they were younger and had been battling a brain tumor off and on for several years. The service was very positive and her brave parents even gave talks.  At the end of the funeral, they of the funeral they handed out Avery's favorites, Cheetos and Barqs Rootbeer (my kind of girl) and we released ballon into the air.

We left Alexis home, watching the cousins. Well, Mason was on the pogo stick and fell onto his arm.  It was pretty bad and Chris came over and helped while we were gone.  We were trying to get a hold of Lee and decided to take the kids to go see Finding Dory, hoping that would get his mind off of it.

The movie was cute and Mason looked to be doing better when it was over, so when I talked to Lee, we decided to just get a brace for his wrist and not go see a doctor.

That night we made a fire and roasted marshamllows and made S'mores. Austin didn't want to get his shirt dirty! The marshmallows were a little big.

The kids had made a fort in the living room and slept together under it each night.

The rest of the weekend was fun but busy - going to church with 7 kids is a lot! The cousins love being together and I am so glad they get to grow up together.

Melissa took Mason to the doctor later that week and his arm was broken! Oops!

Senior Cabin Trip

Thursday, June 9, 2016

Lex talked us in to taking a group of the recent graduates to the cabin for a few days to celebrate.  We took Brad, Taz, Lawson, Julissa, and Beanie.  Julissa had never ridden a horse before, so we stopped at my parents house to ride and bake up the last of the Girls Camp Pizza.

I think Taz is the only person in the whole ward that actually like the pizza.  He ate a whole pizza.

We got to the cabin as it was getting dark and got all set up.

Lex had set up to borrow Uncle Lee's ATVs and Brad brought some too. The kids spent most o the day riding.  They found some goods trails across the highway near Birch Springs Knoll.

Seth and I went to check out the Cousin's Fort and did a little archery while Dave took Camryn out on an ATV.

Everyone kept things pretty safe, expect Taz and Beanie, who wrecked a few times.  Beanie only had a little scratch on her hand, but Taz got pretty tore up.

At night everyone played card and we set up the projector to watch movies.

Saturday, June 11, 2016

On Saturday, we had a big breakfast, then the kids packed lunches so they could go on a longer ATV ride.  They headed up near the pond.

After dinner, we decided to have a campfire and make S'mores. Lawson wanted to prove that he could make a fire without matches, so he used flint and steel and made a little fire next to the one Taz made with lots of lighter fluid.

S'mores was followed by more late night movies.  The next morning we went to church, ate a quick lunch, and then headed home. While we were gone, Brad received his mission call.  One the way into town, we dropped off Lee's trailer, then headed to Brad's house to see him open his call. He is going to Argentina in August.

Sunday, June 5, 2016

Lex and Brad had their graduations at the same time, but different locations, so we decided to take some pictures the day before.

That night was Seminary Graduation. It was a nice ceremony, and we are so proud of Lex sticking it out and getting up each morning to accomplish this.

Lex got up and ready the next morning and drove with Julissa to the Thomas and Mack Arena for Silverado HS's graduation. They got a little lost and drove around the airport a while. A video played as we waited for the ceremony to begin and we saw lots of cute pics of Lex and her friends in it.

They began and the graduates filed in.

Lex was friends with many of the Class Officers and Valedictorians that spoke.

They called the students as they recieved ther diplomas. They did a good job of saying Lex's middle name, which is always a concern for her.

The Class of 2016 turned thier tassels and became official graduates.

It was so hot, but we took lots of pictures when we finally found Lex outside.

Afterwards, Lex met up with Brad's family, the McDonalds, for a late lunch, then they headed over to our house for a family party. We had all of Lex's favorite foods - BJ's Chicken and mashed potatoes, pasta salad, Hawaiian Rolls.  I even made a cake.

Our neighbor, Gary, was kind enough to let us use his pool. The kids love to jump off the roof!

Wally was so cute, playing in the water.

It was a great day to celebrate Lex's commencment into adulthood.
