4th of July

This year the girls worked at a fireworks stand to earn money for their new soccer team, Neon. They were scheduled for fairly early and their was really no business yet.

They spent most of the time sitting around, trying to keep cool.

On the 4th, we invited the family over for hot dogs and hamburgers. There is usually a crazy big fireworks show in our neighborhood but this year they kept it pretty small.

The kids started using the brick of sparklers I had gotten. This sparked a discussion on how you can tape a whole bunch of sparklers together to make little bomb.

While we watched the neighbors fireworks, Bo unwrapped all the sparklers.

We got some electrical tape and got to work on it.

We were ready to try it out.

It did not explode, but went off like a very big and bright fountain. It was pretty cool.

We ended the night by playing games and chatting about Bo's upcoming wedding.

Summer

June 2013

We are keeping busy this summer.

Alexis spent a day at the lake tubing with Shae and Courtney.

The Goons invited ward members to swim. Here are the littles in the hot tub with the Shafers, the Tatchers, the Hollands, and the Goons.

We try to hit the $1 movies at The Colonnade every week. Jamie joined us one day.

We have a lot of cousin sleepovers with Zack. Seth had made a fort from boxes and invited Zack to come for a sleepover in it. Seth is very creative.

We kept busy all June and are looking forward to the trips we have planned for July.

Hanging out with the Schultz Family

June 2013

The Schultz family was in town and we spent some time with them while they were visiting from Tennessee. They came to church with us and we went to lunch while Tim was here. He had to go home to get back to work, so Megan and I took the kids to do a few activities.

We went to the $1 movie to see Parental Guidance, then picked Camryn up from her camp and went to the Old Mormon Fort.

We watched a video that told about the establishment of the fort then walked around a bit.

The kids liked climbing around this wagon.

After the Fort, the Schultz's came over for dinner along with the missionaries serving in our ward.

The next day we all went to In-n-Out for lunch. They don't have those in Tennessee. Alexis' friend Deanna came too.

We picked up Camryn from camp and went next door to the Children's Museum. The Peerys met us there too and let us use some of their passes to get in.

Everyone's favorite exhibit was Water World.

They got pretty wet.

There was a dress up area with some workers doing face painting. We explored the museum for most of the afternoon. It is just like the old museum, but way better!

On Thursday afternoon they came over to swim. We had set up with Gary, next door, to use his pool. Seth jumped from the porch roof for the first time.

We enjoyed our visit with the Schultz family and hope they visit again soon, or better yet, move back here!

Stain

June 2013

We have wanted to update our cabinets for awhile. We had someone give us a quote but it was way more than we wanted to spend. I found a pin on Pintrest that showed you how to stain your cabinets with gel stain. After trying it out on other places in the house I was ready to do the kitchen.

We had to take everything out of the cabinets and put it on the living and dining rooms. It was such a mess.

I worked for a whole week. It was exhausting and the fumes started getting to us. It turned out darker than I expected but it looks so much better.

Camp Broadway

June 17- 21, 2013

For her birthday, we signed Camryn up for Camp Broadway at the Smith Center. She went for a half a day for a week and got to work with Broadway actors.

All week they work on a short Peter Pan play and performed it for their families on Friday. We brought Heather along to watch.

The play was short and sweet. Cam did a good job.

We celebrated by going out to eat afterwards.

School's Out for Summer!

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

We had a great school year, but we were all ready for the last day and for summer to begin.

Camryn had Mr. Suckow this year. I think she struggled with having a male teacher, but he did a good job and Camryn made good progress especially in her reading.

Seth had Mrs. Janeksela, who we loved. She had her class do creative projects and made learning fun.

Alexis made a lot of new friends. We carpooled with Madison at the end of the year. Here are the girls on the last day.

After that last day of school, a group of friends went to the Haycocks to swim.

My oldest niece, Madison, graduated this year. I can't believe how quickly time goes by. The ceremony was fairly short and sweet, followed by a dinner at Ryan's to celebrate her accomplishment.

The Hills are ready for summer!
