White Sands

Sunday, July 1, 2012

We took a break from the 10 hour drive from Denver City, TX to Tucson, AZ in White Sands, NM.

We wrote our names on the sand walls,

climbed the dunes (here Lex is trying to pull Dave up).

and enjoyed stretching our legs.

Pappy

Dave's Grandfather (we call him Pappy) passed away. We visited him several times over the years and I was glad I had the opportunity to know him.  He lived a good, long life (95 years).

Flying to the funeral would have been too expensive, so we drove, stopping at Lee's in Tucsan both ways.  It was good to see Dave's family and spend time visiting with them, as we honored this great man.

Cousins

Thursday, June 21 - Friday, June 23, 2012

Thursday morning the cousins came to stay at our house.  Our neighbors were out of town and offered to let us use their pool, so we spent a lot of time over there.

Addie did not like the water, or any people - besides me and Camryn.

That night we invited some friends over to watch Journey 2 with us, projected on the side of the house. We had lots of popcorn and Otter Pops.

The Mitchells, Andersons, Borlas, Heather Zach, and the cousins watched with us.

I wanted to get a picture of Spencer with his new hat, with a flat brim. He wore it all week and it cracked me up.

On Friday, we went to Story Time at the library and during nap time the older kids had a tea party.

Saturday Lee and Melissa got back and we left the little cousins with the big cousins and Ryan, Jolynn, Paul, Lee, Melissa, Dave and I went out to eat at Maggiano's, a family style Italian restaurant.  They had they best spaghetti and meatballs ever - and I don't even like spaghetti!

Springs Preserve

Wednesday, June 22, 2012

Lee's kids were in town, while Lee and Melissa were celebrating their anniversary in Chicago.  They spent part of the week at Ryan's house and part if the week with us.

We met up with all the cousins and friends from the ward, the Mitchells and the Hollands, at the Springs Preserve.  We ate lunch and went to the Nature Exchange.  Seth had brought a shell and the kids answered questions to earn points, then exchanged the points for other shells.

Then we went to the main exhibit building.

We watched a Venom presentation, where we were shown different venomous animals, mostly snakes.

We checked out the rest of the exhibits, the animals out side, and Seth insisted on going to the recycling exhibit.

It was a long day but it was good to spend time with family and friends.
