Pool Side

Monday, June 18, 2012

One of the things on our list to do one last time with the Mitchells, was to go to the Whitney Ranch Pool.  The kids love the water slides and there is a great play area for littler kids.  We brought Heather Zack and met up there with the Mitchells (who brought along Sydney James), the Elenas, the Hollands (who brought Cynjyn Goon), the Reeses, and Madison brought the cousins out.

The kids got a little burnt but had such a good time they were completely worn out.

Robber's Roost

Saturday, June 16, 2012

Saturday was a Ward dinner at Mt. Charleston.  This year Alexis stayed home so she could go to her soccer game, and we had Jolynn and Paul go with us.  We left a little early and went hiking with the Peerys on our way there.  We went to Robber's Roost, a place my dad took me as a kid.  It is a short hike to some caves. Seth and Jaren were brave climbers.

Jaren, Mason, Seth, Camryn, & Avery

The boys were showing how tough they were.  It was a nice little hike and we made it to the party site in plenty of time for dinner.

The ward party was  nice time to just visit with people while the kids roamed free.  This is always one of my favorite activities of the year.

Lunch Date

Thursday, June 14, 2012

The Mitchell Family is a staple in our life.  Holly and I have been in the Primary Presidency together, Seth and Allie are good buddies, Camryn and Savanah are close friends, and Spencer feels so at home - he walks right in.  I have taught the girls in Preschool and been over them in Nursery and Primary.  About a month ago they broke the news that they are moving to Colorado to follow a job opportunity.  We have been trying to spend as much time with them as possible.  Thursday we went to CeCe's Pizza with them.

We have always loved going to CeCe's together.  We save coupons and make a date.  Holly and I share a deep dish pepperoni and sausage pizza, while the kids eat the mac & cheese pizza.  Then we all chow down on the delicious cinnamon rolls, before the kids get their 1 quarter  to use in the gumball machines and then go pretend to play the arcade games while Holly & I visit.

This time the girls got necklaces in the machines.  We will miss these lunch dates!

New Wheels

I did not get Dave a birthday present this year.  I took him out to a fancy dinner and had the kids stay at Grandma's for the night, but did not actually give him a gift.  LESSON LEARNED!

He came home with this truck on Monday.  He has always wanted a bigger truck, the old truck was starting to have too many problems, and this was a good deal.  He is loving it!

Play Ball

Spring 2012

This year we decided to make the move to Little League Baseball.

Seth was on the Rookie Padres.

His coaches were awesome and he learned so much about the game.  He was the youngest on the team, but the older boys were very patient and encouraging.  Seth loved it and the team had a great season.  Their team made it to the semi-finals in the end-of year tournament.

Seth made good friends.  He loves baseball so much that when we asked him if he wanted to try something else in the fall because our league does not run in the fall, he said no. I guess we will have to find a fall league!

Baptism Day

Saturday, June 9, 2012

About a year ago, Heidi Miller joined our soccer team.  Alexis has become really good friends with Heidi and her twin sister, Taylor, throughout their 8th grade year.  Several months ago, the girls started coming to church with us.  They took the missionary lessons at the Haycock's house with Josh, another friend from school.  All three young people were baptized this weekend.  Heidi asked me to give the talk on baptism, Alexis was asked to bear her testimony, and Dave confirmed Heidi on Sunday.  We are so excited to have all three join the church and our ward.  I am very grateful for the great friends that Alexis has.

School's Out For Summer

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

On Wednesday, Seth had a End of the Year Program for all the parents.  They sang songs - Seth was the star of The Grand Old Flag song.  It was very cute.

After the program, they served drinks and cookies in the kindergarten playground.  Seth got an end of the year picture with his awesome teacher, Mrs. Landsem.

Seth and Cayson showed me their special tree that they walk around.

Cayson was Seth's best kindergarten buddy.  We are planning for them to be in the same 1st grade class too.

Thursday, June 7, 2012

Thursday was the last day of school.  We got an End of the Year shot with Ms. Meznarich, Camryn's amazing 3rd grade teacher.  Both of my little dragons had a great year at Fong.

School got out at 12:40, but I had to work the rest of the day.  The kids had pizza and hung out with other teacher's kids in the library.  They fell asleep on the way home, worn out after the long school year.

Dying to Look Cool

Monday, June 4, 2012

Alexis wanted to end her Middle School career with purplish hair.  We got burgundy dye that washes out after a few weeks.  She loved it!

Mother of the Year

Saturday, June 9, 2012

The best moms don't getting their screaming child out of the laundry basket they are stuck in - they get their camera!

Fong's Got Talent

Thursday May 31, 2012

Camryn and two of her classmates, Hannah & Ana, tried out for the school talent show.  They did a comedy act where Camryn was wearing a large shirt and Hannah stuck her arms through the sleeves.  They said Camryn was their teacher, Ms. Mez getting ready for school.  They ate yogurt, brushed teeth, and put on make up.  Camyrn really hammed it up.  They were the last act and closed out the show with their hilariousness. The next day everyone asked me how a quiet little librarian has such an actress for a daughter. I really don't know!

Memorial Day Weekend at the Cabin

May 25-28, 2012

Memorial Day Weekend found us without sporting events, so we decided to head up to the cabin, bringing Heidi with us and meeting up with aunts, uncles, and cousins there.  We left after school on Friday, stopping at KFC on the way up.  We got there late and read and played games until we were ready to go to sleep.

On Saturday, we went to the store for ice cream, but there were some snow flurries that convinced us to get hot chocolate instead.

When Jo & Paul and Ryan and his family got there, the kids spent time outside, while the adults read and played games.  Zack wanted to take down a deer with the bow and his one arrow that had no tip.

Later we had pizza for dinner, played spoons, and had cinnamon rolls.  Spoons got a little dangerous.

On Sunday, we all went to church, then Jac's family arrived.  Sunday night included a talentless talent show. My talent was to read a book -  I just sat there reading silently. Zack did a little puppet skit.

Seth sang The Car Song.

Jac & Jeff sang a song from Mulan Rouge.

The teenagers had an air guitar band

Camryn & Ana did some sort of nonverbal skit, called Fire Girls. Ana & Juliet also sang a song about goats.

The next day the boys fished, everyone cleaned and we headed home.  Weekends with so many at the cabin are loud but fun.

Choir Chicks

May 2012

The girls had Choir Concerts this month.  Camryn's was short and sweet.  Mrs. Wharton did a great job with this group of kids. The Honor Choir also went to a Music Festival to preform for other schools.

Alexis' concert was a little - ok, a lot - longer.  I was a little sad that this was our last time to tease her about the green dresses. Alexis also participated in the Choirs in the Park Festival.  Her Madrigal group went to California to perform and also got to go to Disneyland and Medieval Times.
