Camryn's Baptism

Sunday, May 29, 2011

When we found out that Jacquelynn and her family was coming to town for Memorial Day weekend, we decided to have Camryn get baptized while we had them in town. We had a family dinner, HB Stroganoff, which is one of Camryn's favorites. When it was almost time to leave for the church, Camryn threw up. Seth had had the flu a few days before. We got her dressed in the fancy white dress we had borrowed from the twins and headed down to the church with a bowl for her to throw up in, if she needed it. Aunt Chris took some pictures while Dave and I set everything up.

Everything went well with the service. Uncle Ryan conducted, Alexis was the pianist, and Sydney lead the music. Anna gave the opening prayer, then madison gave a talk on baptism. Camryn and her best friend sang, When I Am Baptized. Dave performed the baptism, then I went in the dressing room to help her change. She started throwing up on the floor, which was luckily tile. We got her calmed down and went back out. Aunt Jacquelynn gave a talk about the Holy Ghost and then Camryn was confirmed by her dad. I was a little nervous, because Bishop Holland was standing right in front of Camryn, but she held in all in. Seth gave the closing prayer then we had cake and ice cream. Camryn had invited so many people - family, her whole Primary class, her teachers. I had made a 60 serving cake and we ate the whole thing! It was so nice to have so many people there for her special day.

We went home and had a cousin sleepover, the kids jumped on the trampoline and watched a movie, while the grown ups played games and visited for a while. Camryn was wiped out and fell asleep.

Great to Be Eight

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

On Camryn's birthday, we took the kids to Sonic. The plan was to get dinner and go to the park to eat and open presents, but it was raining, so we celebrated Camryn turning 8 in the back of the van. We ordered and Camryn opened her presents while we were waiting for our food.

She got a Karaoke Machine from mom and dad, a scripture bag that Alexis had made her at Young Women's, a white bracelet to wear to her baptism from Seth, a journal from Uncle Bo, and a fuzzy scarf and money from Grandma and Grandpa Jenkins.

We ate.

We sang Happy Birthday, with Seth using his corndog as a microphone.

That Friday was the Father & Son campout, so I told Camryn she could have a sleepover. She kept inviting people, so it turned into a lateover instead, with just one friend spending the night.

The girls made their own personal pizzas, painted their nails, and watched Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure.

The next day, Grandma Hill took Camryn to CiCi's Pizza and to go shopping for her present. Camryn got a ladybug pillow pet and some movies. She had a great birthday and is looking forward to getting baptized this weekend.
